Merri Halma

About the Author

1.      When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I first wanted to be a writer when I was eleven or twelve. I had a        speech impediment mixed with a need to express myself and an active imagination. Writing gave way to control my life and power to speak of emotions I couldn’t verbally express. I loved losing myself in the worlds I created and often wished I could live those lives instead.

2.       What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I meditate as a write, asking Spirit assist me to assist me to create a story others would love. I also talk with my characters and ask them show me what exactly they want me to write about them.

3.      What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I like to go to movies, go for walks and I love to read.

I also enjoy watching the birds and squirrels play around.

4.     What makes your book stand out from the crowd?

I have been I have a unique voice. I combine myths, folklore and some psychological elements to delve deep inside the characters. I strive to answer the question “What makes me tick? Why was I created this way?”

5.     What do you enjoy most about writing?

I enjoy getting lost in the world, daydreaming and imagining what it would be like to be inside someone’s skin. It helps me to understand others. To see their demons and how they need to face them down.
