Your Next Favorite Author: Morgan Smith

About the Author
Morgan Smith has been a goatherd, a landscaper, a weaver, a bookstore owner, a travel writer, and an archaeologist, and she will drop everything to travel anywhere, on the flimsiest of pretexts. Writing is something she has been doing all her life, though, one way or another, and now she thinks she might actually have something to say.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
On occasional weekends, you will find me being a Norse lady from the Faeroe Islands in 895AD, spinning, weaving and cooking, and drinking mead…

Tips for writing a good book review:

Writing a book review follows the same pattern as any other piece of writing. Think about the pattern of writing: Beginning-Middle-End.
Beginning:
Write a brief description of the book. (No spoilers or plot summaries. This is not a book report).
Middle:
Discuss what you liked about the book. This could be the characters, specific plot points, imagery, or any other ideas you enjoyed.
Discuss what you might not have liked. Don’t feel obligated to be negative, but if there is area for improvement mention it. If the author is self-published they may have the opportunity to fix the issues and resubmit the book.
End:
Offer a conclusion, a summary or your final thoughts.
A few other tips:
Write the review in first person.
Be honest in your review. You are not doing the author or future readers any favors by giving a positive review when the book has issues.
Be succinct. Good reviews are between 75-300 words. (To give you a good base this document is 256 words)
Finally, books need a mixture of reviews, positive and negative. If a book has nothing but 5 star reviews they appear to be fake.

For those on the receiving end of reviews, be prepared. Reviewers will either like your book or they won’t. DO NOT respond to reviews, good or bad. If you need to read the reviews (if you’re that kind of person) then sit on them for a few days. You may find some great benefit from the information.

120 Characters (Think Twitter): Why are you THE Next Favorite Author?
v  I’m a renegade.  I know the rules, and I often throw them out the window.  I write to tell the stories that refuse to be silenced.
Answer one of the Questions:
4. What makes your book stand out from the crowd?
v  The Followers of Torments saga came about in answer to the question, “But where did he come from?” about the main character.  It melded years of leading role-play groups, a wild imagination, and an interest in developing something unique into a unified whole.  As the author, I am on the same treasure hunt as the reader.  Quite often, after a writing session I re-read what I’ve just written and wonder where things are going, which keeps it exciting for me.  I’ve been told, that excitement translates to the reader as well.
Give an about the Author Blurb,
v  K. Caffee is a full time graduate student who has bowed to the pressures of her muse to get the stories she likes to tell out into the big world. She has always enjoyed entertaining others with her flights of fancy, and now invites you to come along for the ride. When she is not writing, or studying, she is a willing servant to her two cats who sometimes provide inspiration for her stranger characters.

This is the first ask a question day.
Usually I will post a question about you as authors and your writing journey.
Although I want this to be an opportunity for you to tell the blogs audience about yourself, today I want you to ask questions. What do you want to know about me, this blog and shy I am doing this?
I will be as transparent as possible.
Thanks

Author Profile: Lucinda Moebius

I’m the next favorite author because of my compelling characters. I tap into raw human emotion and make the imagined real.

My favorite part about writing is the magical shiver I get up my spine when I read something really good and I realize I wrote it. Sometimes I wonder if I’m the one who wrote my books or if there is someone else taking over my thoughts and fingers and weaving a spell over the computer. Part of my writing process is to set aside a project once I complete it for at least two to three weeks so when I pick it up again I am looking at it with fresh eyes. When I come across those little gems of word magic in the pages I get goosebumps all up and down my arms and I feel like I can feel a Muse breathing secrets into my ear. I believe in spirits at exactly that moment.

About the Author
Lucinda Moebius has been a writer since she was a child and was first published in 2010. Since then she has worked hard to create unique visions and stories. Her work includes novels in multiple genres including: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal, Children’s Books, Screenplays and Non-fiction. Lucinda has a Doctorate in Education and loves teaching, but her greatest desire is to help others understand how literature and writing can bring enlightenment and understanding to everyone. She offers book coaching and advice to everyone, whether they want it or not.

Writing Prompt

Tell about a time you (or your character) experienced a storm.

Here's mine:
The sky darkened just moments before the crash of thunder shook the roots of the house. Lights flickered in tune with the lightening brightening the horizon. Lucinda pulled the blanket closer around her body and curled up on the couch, watching her dog for signs of nervousness. Within seconds she could hear the attack of the hail against the metal roofing of her house. Tree branches flung themselves to the ground in protest of the assault of the wind and the rain. Nothing could be out on a night like this. She glanced towards the window just as another flash of lightening lit up the sky. She had to blink against the sudden shadow she saw. No one should be out in this storm yet she could clearly see the shape of a person standing outside her home. Yes, there he was, standing by the mailbox, staring at her house. The lightning flashed again but the figure didn't flinch. Her dog suddenly stood and stared at the door her hackles raised and a low growl rumbling in her throat. Lucinda reached over and pulled her Bible close, opening the book to a random page. The figure rushed towards the house but disappeared before he got to the front door. The dog stared for a few more seconds, then returned to the pillow she had claimed as her own.
